Quality Control Program

Jones Concrete Construction, LLC.
Quality Control Program

Jones Concrete Construction has three major components to its Quality Control Program:
  1. Pre-construction and submittal stage
  2. Pre-pour inspections and pre-task planning (PTP)
  3. Follow-up, control and observations

Pre-Construction and Submittal

During the pre-construction and submittal process, quality is recognized in the preparation of all submittals for compliance to drawings and specifications. Items such as mix designs, shop drawings and safety submittals are done promptly and accurately. If mock ups are required, these are placed at the site prior to starting work and checked for compliance and General Contractor / Owner approval. Any R.F.I.s, addenda or other changes that have been generated during this phase are noted on the drawings and communicated to the field for incorporation into the project.

Items such as schedule of values, billing worksheets, job specific hazard analysis and insurance certificates are prepared and submitted on time with quality, i.e. done correctly the first time to save time and effort by all parties.

Pre-Pour Inspections and PTP's

Through the construction process, Jones Concrete Construction has incorporated 10 standard improvement disciplines as part of our core belief and production system. A major part of these disciplines are the pre-pour inspections, of which examples are attached. The adopted policy is that each of Jones Concrete Construction job quality control directors will review the in-place work prior to pouring concrete or moving to the next phase of construction, and log the findings on the form provided. Any work not in compliance is immediately corrected. This internal quality control review is done prior to confirming manpower and material requirements for the placement of the concrete, and typically corresponds to special or municipal inspections of the work.

Safety is a large part of the pre-pour as well, making sure we are protecting workers and in compliance with the job site specific hazard analysis.

Pre-task planning is done with the use of PTP’s. See attached sample. This document is prepared daily and serves as a quality and safety control guide in the process of completing the work. These are done by foremen with review done by the Jones Concrete Construction superintendent.

Follow-Up Control and Site Observations

Immediately after the installation of in-place work, the work will be inspected by quality control personnel for conformance to specifications, bench mark or mockup quality. In the event the work is not in conformance, or identified as deficient, a written plan will be offered to the General Contractor within 24 hours of the discovery. This plan will outline corrective measures that will need to be taken and what caused the deficient work, so it will not be repeated. Once the plan is approved, work will begin as directed by the General Contractor, given schedule, safety and other job influences being considered.

Jones Concrete Construction’s quality control responsible persons are the site specific superintendent and the place and finish superintendent who observes and inspects all work prior, during, and after the placement of all concrete. Even though these two individuals are ultimately responsible, all other Jones Concrete Construction personnel from laborers to ownership have a responsibility to incorporate quality and safety into each of their work activities.
